A Soup Dragons were the Scottish indie rock band of the late 80s and early 90s.
History
It formed inside Belshill, the town super nigh to Glasgow in 1985. A line higher was Sean Dickson (vocals, lead guitar), Jim McCulloch (guitar, 2nd voice) & Sushil K. Dade (bass). Original drummer Ross The. Sinclair left a class action fallowing a number one proper album, This Is Our Art, to pursue a career within art and was replaced by Paul Quinn. Virtually all of their songs were written by Dickson, when a select few were co-written Dickson/McCulloch.
Orginally lumped around using a C86 movement along with fellow members of the Belshill Healthy like a BMX Bandits and Teenage Fanclub, they went across the total of stylistic changes in their career.
Their debut was Buzzcocks-inspired pop-punk, & in top the course of sise singles (collected inside 1987 on a Me-exclusively compilation, Hang Ten) they gradually developed the extra complex rock guitar which culminated in their foremost album proper This Is My Art.
In the month below This Is My Art their healthy had heavily & heavily, so suddenly it underwent the major vary from either an indie rock healthy to the rock-dance crossover baggy sound popular at a period sustaining the release of the album Lovegod. This vary mirrored that of fellow Scottish band Primal Scream and can be attributed to the rise of the ecstasy fuelled acid home rave scene in the UK. This led to accusations that it were bandwagon jumpers. Still, it produced their virtually all notable hit lone in the UK, ''We'm Loose'' around 1990 the cover of a Rolling Stones song.
Subsequent albums continued a rock-dance crossover healthy when it concentrated in trying to break America.
A band split around 1995. Paul Quinn joined fellow Bellshill band Teenage Fanclub. Sushil K. Dade formed a experimental post rock band The Mt Vernon Arts Lab and singer Sean Dickson formed The High Fidelity.
